Happy Valentines Day!

This weekend is also the GREAT BACKYARD BIRD COUNT!

It is a lot of fun and you don’t have to spend a lot of time on it. I’ve done it for several years now. Visit this web page for instructions. Basically you count all the birds you see for a certain amount of time, then go and log them on the web. Easy!

  1. How did you bird counting go? 🙂  I did four separate counts this year and saw cardinals, house sparrows (lots), starlings (lots), robins, mourning doves, two dark-eyed juncos (very excited about seeing them!), a common grackle, and a red-bellied woodpecker! 🙂  I did see two pileated woodpeckers also that weekend, but since it was just when I was out and about and not actually birdwatching, I didn’t report them.  (My Northern Flicker didn’t show.  Oh well.)
    How are your bluebirds? 🙂
